========================================================
Just bought myself a netbook right before Windows 7 came out. It was a capable little system, so I decided to bring it up to Windows 7. I had the DVD and so I decided to pair it up with an external DVD drive – first to install the new OS, and for burning and DVD playback functionality as well.
As I said in my title, everything works. I bring my netbook around for surfing, doing quick notes, and now I can view that odd DVD movie when I’m in long trips or in idle times. This DIGISTOR is just what the doctor ordered. It doesn’t need a separate power cord, so there’s only the USB connection — pretty handy and space-saving when I use it with my desktop as well.
I’ve burned all typs of media, it hasn’t given me any “coaster” burns yet (bad burns), I just wish the DVD-RW speeds were faster, but other than that, it all works.
It’s slim and sleek, I can carry it wherever I go, and it’s pretty quiet too. I got the standard tray-load version, I don’t know how noisy the slot-loading one is — slot loading drives are generally noisier than standard tray loaders.
If you’re looking for an optical drive that’s a perfect netbook partner, look no further.
PS: I hear they have an external USB Blu-Ray drive too. Yep, I found it here -> DIGISTOR USB 2. 0 Powered Blu-ray Burner (Slot-Load) External – might be worth checking out as well.
