If you are looking for quality portable external USB-to-use high-capacity hard drive at an affordable price, this is your choice!
Owner: 5 days.
Advantages: < , br /> 1 High-resolution use Simple Tech Western Digital (WD) internal hard disk drive (HDD) is known to be a state-of-the-art HDD.
2 As portable (small size and light) as WD Passport.
3 USB-powered and bus-powered. As one of the USB port on some computers, not enough power, SimpleTech gives you a USB-2. 0 Y-cable (not supplied WD Passport), which can be connected to two USB ports on your computer to drive to get enough power. This position is also a power port (power cord is not supplied, however, has WD Passport not have the power port at all) if you use the power cord. However, I have a laptop (about 5 years old now) unnecessary! I hook in this effort one of the USB port on my laptop and it works. I’m so glad to know that, because I was afraid to drive because it does not work with a USB port to buy (my laptop has only two USB ports, so I would stop, and you can not any other USB device, such as a mouse at the same time)! Make sure your USB key (no rope, take a look at the picture above). WD will buy an expensive Y-cable if you need it. Moreover, this Y-cable is longer than the SimpleTech USB cable from WD.
4 The highest capacity portable drives available today (similar to WD Passport 320 GB).
5 I bought from Amazon Marketplace (ZENCORP) is $ 97. 99 plus $ 6. 49 S & H (excluding taxes). Merchant offered the best price on that date. I ordered it on Friday, traders sent (by MD) is a Saturday via DHL, and I (Ca) is an excellent package on Monday! You can not possibly get this great deal WD 320GB passport now.
6 Plug N Play, such as WD passport. My laptop immediately recognized this role (3 my school, all with only one USB port) when I was on the hook for 1 time.
7 Hot-swap, such as WD Passport.
8 Great show! After all, was designed by Pininfarina! I have no WD Passport does not seem any better.
9 USB port, and this position is naked, what is good, because I’ve always felt reading the WD Passport hard to port (WDXMS2500CN, bought from Costco) because the valve. WD USB naked just released their newest model (WDME3200TE).
10 The blue light indicates that the hard drive is connected to the local disk of your computer, flash, like the work, the red light indicates that power is on! WD Passport light seems not the information.
11 3 years warranty, such as WD passport. Very important.
12 Did not try the software, but the backup and other utilities, such as a simple, automated backup Fabrik local backup and Fabrik Ultimate protection of a full backup of the online service (2 GB free), Bob Software for photos, songs, organize, and videos that come with it. I will comment after use.
13 Free technical support via phone. WD Technical Support is available free only until 30 days after you call them 1. WD’s Tech Support guys know (even higher, really annoying) so much as the common man you some of the standard of technical knowledge.
14 PC / Mac compatible, such as WD Passport.
Base 15 is a path to the structure of the disc to protect. 16
It is quiet and fast WD passport. It has not warmed as the WD Passport.
17 Pre-formatted with NTFS to FAT32 compared (WD passport). Most people use a PC than a Mac!
Disadvantages: Not much! I think it’s just good to win badly.
1 scratch as Able as WD Passport.
2 Only 5400 rpm, but this is the maximum speed for all mobile stations including. WD
3 capacity is not as big as the larger stations.
4 No FireWire 400/800 or eSATA or 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports. Can not possibly expect the portable drives.
Make sure you buy a suitcase, the best of Case Logic (model # PHDC-1) to protect and manage the drive comfort.
Other portable drives on the market, say, WD, Seagate, Toshiba, Iomega, HP, Maxtor, but they are better than this. I wear this, and I owned WD Passport (WDXMS2500CN) and return it.
Do I have enough on this great gadget? Buy one and enjoy!
UPDATE: 11/20/2009: drive is still busy. Only problems are: 1) occasionally does not work in some computers (also new), a USB connection, you must use two ports. 2) Sometimes when I connect to this computer, this device behaves as it were connected to the slow USB (1 1) port, so copying files takes forever. I disconnected and connected to it and it works normally. I advised the representative of the ST (phone), this may be a controller problem, and I would go to the RMA. I do not see. I still have a valid guarantee a good time.
UPDATE: 12/20/2009: I returned to Hitachi drive repair / replacement of the RMA. They gave me a new drive (no color Black Cherry now, but a red, still looks good), and I am pleased to report that it seems that they have fixed things. So far I’m addicted to them and 2 desktops and 1 laptop successfully (where the old station with issues). Back to the disc, I used the flat ($ 4. 95) The box is not USPS, that is, the boys, who complain that the position after the purchase should be done as I do, if the warranty still valid is (3 years).

I have more than 2 5TB and 320GB disk. So the confidence to write chapters of this opinion:
March 22, 2010, 4:21 amSimpleTech drives have no difference in practice for more than a passport from Western Digital, WD, in fact, a bit thinner (CRAM in many cases, the required). WD is accompanied by a short cable, SimpleTech has a long cable, which is why some users experience the problem, SimpleTech Drives-> cable is no longer emit less power than the disk, so that some of the computers are not in able to juice it correctly if you use high quality shorter USB cable. Furthermore, I noticed (in addition to taking many of them) that the PC Board (USB-SATA adapter part) is not as simple as a passport, PC Board will also lead to a slightly warmer than the equivalent of WD. Finally, I have two of (320 juicy Drippin ‘that’s 320GB Cherry ordered gigabytes), and one of them was a bad PC Board (USB internal SATA adapter), it does not matter to me, for I must drive cheaper than a pure white drive label, anyway – was just a nice drive PCB was defective, you have a warm, but not to install … In any case, no status “protected”, or different discharge (internally) than the WD Passport. But both WD and SimpleTech are supportive housing is plastic, and I usually drive to install self-USB enclosure (cheapy from eBay is not fine), that an aluminum frame to suppress static and give it a little support to prevent crushing your bag has. Make sure the style is cool, but is bigger, and problems with internal PCB less desirable, but the price is very well managed mostly bargain. I do not reformat the disk, but it’s nice to be that the NTFS out of the box …
The second notice to the other users: My computer is a new Toughbook 1AMP the following information on a USB port, so it is what the power of the market, but if the port is “Wimpy” you two connectors, and even consider investing in the power brick and a USB hub, is 5 volts, the center-pin mini connector. These are available on eBay, but one tip: If you buy PCMCIA USB port (old computers), will usually come to work, and get much cheaper than the rest of the adapter!

When I first received this status, I would have given it 4 stars. I really like the designers – it is the best player to drive there. And it worked well the year – just the deceased. This was not the occasional typographical error, illegally and without warning, went belly up. Kaput. Dead as a door mouse. This-is-a-dead-dead parrot.
The light was discussed. Usually in the bookcase in my office, no physical or thermal stress of all kinds. I praised her beauty, and it gives me the most important information. And this is what I get: a little ungrateful rotating bucket betrayed me!
O fickle court: Never, I say!

I have this drive for about one months, and I am very happy. It is very small, but high capacity. It also looks cool (and even feel cool, like metallic Velvet). It is very quiet (virtually silent), and is much faster. No problems playing the video through the Media Center or Media Player. Soft as silk, all in full swing. Of course, the music and images come through perfectly.
In my Toshiba Satellite notebook, it works fine plugged into a USB port. If the laptop is motorized other reason, you have two poles with two wire plug (uses 2 USB ports) or you can use the 5 VDC 1 0 AC adapter (which is the same I think, most other USB devices such as fans, USB hubs, etc.). This information is clearly FOLDOUT manual. Make sure your manual to see which of plugs should I use, if you just want only one connector connected to a computer or a notebook, because one of the plug is both power and data, while the other is just a back – up power operator in the USB ports are used undersized.
Technical Support responded within 1 days, I asked whether it can be set to spin down when not in use (apparently not). It’s cool, so it is not really a problem.
For the price, style and performance, I think this a great drive.

I have purchased two of these for my computer (both a low capacity hard drive installed). Both died within one weeks. I ran the diagnosis is one of them, and it was more than 400 bad sectors. The other position will not even start. I’ve tried more than one computer, different operating systems. It just stopped working. I’ve been back to the 250GB SimpleTech drive after only 4 months. I hope that the 250GB drive I had known before I bought the 320’s. I would not have wasted my time. Another note, they require much power. Most computers have the shooting has two USB ports, or buy a power adapter (about $ 30 from Radio Shack). But you must create and SimpleTech and get information about nutrition. This information is not a website. And it is rare that data, so the food options are limited.
